| Canon revamps lineup of CanoScan image scanners with launch of four new models | |
TOKYO--Canon today renewed its CanoScan lineup of flatbed image scanners in Japan with the launch of four new models: the flagship-model CanoScan 8600F and high-cost-performance CanoScan 4400F, equipped with a high-performance CCD sensor; and the slim-body and lightweight CanoScan LiDE 600F and CanScan LiDE 70, featuring Canonfs LiDE technology. The top-of-the-line CanoScan 8600F and high-cost-performance CanoScan 4400F employ CCD sensor technology that delivers 4,800 dot-per-inch (dpi) optical resolution with 48-bit color depth. Both models are equipped with a built-in Film Adapter Unit, facilitating the easy scanning of 35mm negatives and mounted slides, with the 8600F able to handle the continuous scanning of up to 12 frames of 35mm film at a time, and the 4400F up to six frames. Additionally, the 8600F incorporates Canonfs FARE (Film Automatic Retouching and Enhancement) Level 3 technology, which automatically detects and corrects for the effects of dust, scratches, color fading and graininess, and also offers backlight correction. Both the Canon CanoScan 8600F and 4400F include a total of seven "EZ Buttons" for one-touch operation, allowing users to copy, scan, create an Adobe PDF file, or optimize an image for e-mail with the press of a button. The CanoScan LiDE 600F and LiDE 70 are lightweight, slim-line CIS (Contact Image Sensor) flatbed image scanners. Canonfs LiDE (LED InDirect Exposure) technology makes possible an ultra-thin body design while facilitating g1 Plug Scanh operability, which does away with the need for an AC adapter by enabling power to be supplied from a PC via a single USB cable connection. The LiDE 600F and LiDE 70 deliver twice the scanning resolution of their respective predecessor--the LiDE 500F, launched in February 2005, and the LiDE 60, launched in July 200--with the LiDE 600F making possible high-resolution scanning of up to 4,800 dpi, and the LiDE 70 of up to 2,400 dpi.
