| Toshiba Signs Memorandum Concerning Promotion of Mutual Cooperation With Kazatomprom in the Nuclear Power Industry | |

TOKYO--Toshiba Corporation today signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazatomprom, a state-owned corporation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, concerning promotion of mutual cooperation in the nuclear power industry. In accordance with the spirit of the agreement between Japan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development and enhancement of a strategic partnership in the field of nuclear energy, as confirmed on the occasion of the visit of the Japanese public/private mission to the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the leadership of Mr. Akira Amari, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Toshiba has agreed with Kazatomprom to open discussions on how best to build and promote a cooperative relationship. The companies will start discussions on constructing a mutually beneficial
partnership in the nuclear fuel and nuclear power plant construction
businesses, seeking to reinforce their business foundations by utilizing
and taking advantage of their respective management resources and networks.
